Aims and Objectives

 
 



Mission Statement
Herts Young Homeless Group is an independent charity enabling young people to secure and maintain appropriate accommodation through prevention, crisis intervention and resettlement.
HHAH! aims to promote health for homeless people of all ages.

The organisation aims to do this by:
Offering a service for prevention, crisis intervention and resettlement that:
• Is responsive to the immediate community
• Is direct
• Advocates on behalf of homeless young people

Objectives

Herts Young Homeless Group will meet each of its aims in the following ways:

Prevention: Through schools, colleges and youth group discussions and presentations.
Holding one-to-one sessions with young people and their families.
Working with young people to prevent youth homelessness.

Crisis Intervention: Finding accommodation for young people made homeless and advocating with the relevant council authority housing office on behalf of service users.
Enlisting the help of Specialist Workers within HYHG.
Using the Crashpad and Mediation Schemes.
Facilitating emergency payments and benefits.
Provision of food parcels and toiletries.
Involving other agencies in crisis support.

Tenancy Sustainment : Using the resources available within HYHG such as Floating Support Workers, Resettlement Workers, Counsellors, and Deposit Guarantee Schemes.
Referring service users to other agencies where appropriate.
