Advice Information & Mediation
The aim the Advice and Information service is to provide a gateway for young people who are in need of HYHG’s services. Through assessing the needs of the young person the Advice and Information worker will refer young people into the relevant support services. Where possible Advice and Information workers will use their mediation skills in order to prevent a homeless situation – for example supporting a service user and their family to reconcile differences. If homelessness cannot be prevented, the service will support a young person in accessing appropriate accommodation. Within the Advice and Information team specialists exist in the following areas:
Mediation Mediators work with young people to help both them and their families find solutions to relationship problems. Mediation can improve communication, is impartial and confidential. Mediators listen to the young person and their family without taking sides or making judgements. Mediators do not give advice or tell anyone what to do. |
